La Piastra
25 Shunpike Rd. La Piastra has been serving their "gourmet-to-go" foods -- fully prepared home-cooked meals -- since opening just two years ago. "We are a healthy alternative to other takeouts," La Piastra owner Lauren DeLisa says. "It’s all natural, with no preservatives, and we make all the sauces and dressings from scratch." The meals are made fresh and packaged in oven-safe containers every day. "We started with mostly Italian foods, but now we mix it up quite a bit," says Executive Chef John Martino. La Piastra offers entrees like chicken Parmesan, salmon over orzo and a large assortment of pasta dishes, as well as daily specials and desserts by the slice. "We make a limited quantity in order to keep it fresh. Our chicken pad Thai and chocolate peanut butter pie have been selling out almost everyday," DeLisa says. La Piastra is also easy on the budget, serving entrees for two for less than $13. 2nd: Moe's Southwest Grill 30 Statehouse Square 535 Evergreen Way 3rd: Koy Lounge at Butterfly Restaurant 831 Farmington Ave.
