The basic question any party-seeking clubber asks is: When I show up (or soon after), will the floor be full of shaking, twisting and grinding torsos? Up or On the Rocks has that covered, always, says owner Jerry Fornarelli. "We've never had the problem of people not coming in," he says. "The reputation is that it's always packed. As soon as you walk through the doors, you feel the energy coming off the walls." A good lighting system helps create that energy, and the dance floor has 25 moving light heads. Up or On the Rocks has been strobing Hartford area residents for five years now, which is no small feat for a dance club. "It's very tough," Fornarelli says, "you have to be a trend leader."
