At any one time, Up or On the Rocks can have a band and two DJs going at once. Downstairs is the remodeled rock room, with 25 Ovation guitars hanging on the walls and signed by visiting bands. Upstairs is a high-energy dance club (which won the Best of Hartford distinction this year). There's also an outside patio where people can smoke, listen to music and see Hartford's skyline. Owner Jerry Fornarelli says for live music, they look for high-profile rock groups and also provide room for up-and-coming local bands. Recent gigs include Staind, Candlebox, Puddle of Mudd and Saving Abel. Their DJs play Top 40 songs and house music.
