It's a family operation over at Bowl-O-Rama in Newington. Rip Callahan started working there at age 10 after his parents opened the alleys in 1959, and now Rip operates it with his brother, son, daughter and niece (Fred III, Fred J, Cindy and Amber). Bowl-O-Rama, which was completely remodeled two years ago, is open 24 hours a day, has Sunday morning discount bowling, and offers free shoe rentals for college students. Not only can they run an alley well, they can bowl well, too; Rip's best is 268, and his son Fred J has scored a perfect 300.
