BEST BEER SELECTION ON TAP

Plan B's Lena DiGenti, Jon Martin, Greg Pettinella, Tracy Cooksey and Shawn Skehan.
Since opening, Plan B Tavern has set out to create an all-American bar and grill that was an alternative to the prevalent chain restaurants. A big part of owner Shawn Skehan's focus was American craft beers, according to Joe Grillo, who's been tending bar at the restaurant since it opened in 2006. "We wanted to offer beer that is not available in most bars, and we wanted to keep it all American, with different types of American microbrews," Skehan said. You'll find 14 beers on tap at Plan B in West Hartford, he said, and they're rotated each week. "Each week you could see three different [beers] up there," said Grillo. "We change them out and try different versions of microbrews. We have standards; like, Brooklyn Lager will always be on there, a Rogue product or an Allagash product. And then we offer either a PPR or a Miller High Life for the old time, you know, $3.50-a-pint guys."
