This is the first year the Advocate's run a Best Bathroom category and the proud winner of that new title is The Hidden Vine, a just-opened restaurant and bar in Newington. "It's so clean," says Salvatore Motta, owner of the Italian joint that, after only about three months in business, houses one hell of an impressionable bathroom. Motta says, "I have to give some credit for decorating the bathroom to my cousin, Jen Motta. She offered to come in and do all the decorating just for the bathrooms. She came up with some great ideas about how to do it." The men's room is "a bluish color," Motta says, "and four circles go up the wall like a wave." Motta also mentions all the space in these now-award-winning waterclosets. But what's actually great about the bathrooms, says Motta, "is the cleanliness. You can eat off the floor. Everyone cleans up after themselves because they're so nervous about doing anything to the bathroom. They just clean up after themselves. It's spotless in there." That's a powerful bathroom.
