Exhibiting photographer Gary Schneider’s Life @ Life Size, a series of long-exposure portraits, is on view at the University of Connecticut Contemporary Art Galleries. By training a pen light on his subject’s face for a long periods of time, the South African-born photographer creates an eerie three-dimensional sculpture (shown is “Chappell”) that appears to spring to life.

Life @ Life Size, through Oct. 21, weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., University of Connecticut Contemporary Art Galleries, 830 Bolton Road, Storrs. For information, call (860) 486-1511.
